Personal profile

Overview

I am a postdoctoral researcher working with Dr Pawel Paszek and Prof Ian Roberts using single cell imaging approaches to study the heterogeneity of host-pathogen interactions in Listeria monocytogenes infections of macrophages.

Research interests

Host-pathogen interactions are inherently heterogeneous due to cell to cell variability in expression of antimicrobial agents by the host or virulence factors by the pathogen. I am using quantitative live-cell imaging approaches to track infections of the important foodborne pathogen and model organism for intracellular infections Listeria monocytogenes in macrophages. Using this approach, I have identified that infection outcome at the single cell level is primarily determined by L.monocytogenes.
