Biography

With an interdisciplinary background in human and environmental geography, I am broadly interested in empirical topics related to environmental technology, biodiversity conservation and Indigenous-led development and conceptual topics generally related to Indigenous Data Sovereignty and conservation/environmental social science including political ecology, environmental sociology, feminist surveillance studies and political economy.

Supervised by Dr Rose Pritchard and Dr Tim Foster, my current PhD research explores the implications of conservation drones and satellites for Indigenous communities in central Kenya alongside opportunities and barriers to promoting Indigenous Data Sovereignty in this context in line with the ESRC-funded Just Earth Observation for Conservation project (JEOC). I am also an active member of the Resources, Environment and Development (RED) and Society and Environment (SERG) research groups within the Global Development Institute and Department of Geography as part of this.
