Biography

Kassandra is a senior lecturer in Enterprise in the Alliance Manchester Business School. She served as the Programme Director for the Master of Enterprise (MEnt) research programme. Throught this programme at least 59 businesses have been created with an average start-up survival rate of 86% at 5 years. Previously she worked in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering and School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She studied in Manchester and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Environmental Information Systems (GIS), and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Studies and Applied Physics.

Kassandra’s experience includes technology development in collaboration with universities and industrial partners. She is one the Directors of Blockchainers CIC which she has co-founded as part of a research project in the area of development and adoption of blockchain technology. She facilitated in setting-up Manchester's first student led blockchain society which she acts as a patron.

She secured 0.5M worth of research grants from industry and the EPSRC. One of her most innovative projects involved developing an acoustic inspection reflectometry tool, Acoustek®. The tool was patented and commercialisatied via The University of Manchester Intellectual Property (UMIP) now Innovation Factory; and the tool has been licensed to Pipeline Engineering - CIRCOR Energy. Acoustek® won the best ‘Measurement in Action Award’ in 2008 from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and in 2016 Acoustek® was a winner in the UK Energy Innovation Awards organised by the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC) for ‘Best University Technology of the Year’.

She has been working with BP since 2002; she lectured on the BP Engineering Management Executive Education Programme and worked closely with BP on her research, she develops and supervises student projects with BP.

Kassandra co-developed the Extended Access scheme, which has been established as a University Policy for Research Staff. This was assessed by the European Commission and contributed to the University's HR Excellence in Research Award 2016.

She is a reviewer for the Journal of Applied Acoustics and for the Journal of Marine Engineering & Technology.
