Dr Katharina (Kathi) Edkins is Reader in Pharmaceutics in the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry within the School of Health Sciences, and Lead in Pharmaceutics. She joined the University of Manchester in 2020 after having been Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at Queen's University Belfast, and Lecturer in the Division of Pharmacy at Durham University.
Dr Edkins' research focus is on supramolecular interactions in pharmaceutical materials ranging from pre-crystallisation disordered materials to novel drug delivery platforms based on supramolecular gels. Her group specialises in neutron scattering techniques, such as diffraction, quasi-elastic neutron scattering and neutron total scattering. In addition, she uses nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, FT infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and other fluorescence microscopic methods to investigate molecular interaction and dynamics.
