Kenneth Atuma

Kenneth’s research knowledge and experience cover all areas of Knowledge and Information Management. He is particularly interested in research that talks about how good Archives and Records Management and Information Governance good practices can help to improve accountability, and transparency, promote good governance, and improve service delivery in both public sector organizations.  He is also interested in research around AI in Libraries; Digital Librarianship; Health Librarianship, Computational Archiving, and Information Retrieval Systems.

Kenneth is originally from Nigeria and had all his early education in Nigeria up to bachelor's degree level.  

Kenneth is a Knowledge and Information Management specialist and Scholar. He is a Lecturer in Library and Archives Studies at the University of Manchester. His main area of specialisation is Archives, Records Management and Information Governance and Compliance. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Information Studies at the University of Glasgow. Kenneth holds a first-class bachelor’s honours degree in Library and Information Science from Imo State University, Nigeria, and earned an M.SC.  in Information Management and Preservation from the University of Glasgow.

Kenneth has previously worked and taught in two higher institutions in Nigeria. With an extensive experience in Knowledge and Information Management, he has previously taught courses which are Introduction to Knowledge Management and Indigenous Knowledge Systems; Reference Sources and Services; Information User; History; Online Bibliographic Search; History of Nigerian Libraries.

In 2024, Kenneth served as a peer review expert for the German based ACQUIN Accreditation Commission, participating in an international program accreditation procedure for Al-Farabi Kazakh University, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Specifically, he contributed expertise to the accreditation evaluation process for the following programs: Digital Archiving and File Management (Bachelor's degree), IT Archiving and Document Management (Master's degree), and Library Information Systems (PhD).

Currently, Kenneth holds a position on the advisory board for the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) Subject Benchmark Statement (SBS) Reviews 2024-2025. Within this role, I serve on the advisory review group specializing in Librarianship, Information, Knowledge, Records, and Archives Management programs.

He is also interested in research around Computational Archiving; Digital Preservation; Information Storage and Retrieval Systems; AI in Libraries; Health Librarianship.
