Kiera joined the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology in March 2014 to work on an mHealth smoking cessation project funded by CRUK.
In 2017 she began working as a research associate on the SuMMiT-D project, an NIHR funded collaborative project between the University of Manchester and Oxford University that aims to develop a text messaging service to support medication adherence in people with Type 2 diabetes
Following her MSc, Kiera was employed as a research assistant in both the Applied Informatics in Cancer Care and the Psychosocial Oncology and Clinical Practice research groups at the University of Leeds. Projects included the development of a web-based psychosocial support resource for cancer survivors and the development of a needs assessment survey for patients with chronic cancer.
She left to conduct her PhD with the Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Group in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), University of Sheffield. The PhD was completed alongside the wider SMART3 project, which aims to create a technology-based holistic self-management system for people with COPD. Kiera's PhD looked specifically at using mobile interventions to increase physical activity in this population.
Kiera joined the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology in March 2014 and worked on a CRUK funded project that developed a mobile phone app for current smokers who are not planning to quit within 30 days.
In 2017 she started work on an NIHR funded collaborative project between the University of Manchester and Oxford University that aims to develop a text messaging service to improve medication adherence in people with type 2 diabetes.
Kiera is interested in how technology can be used to improve health and wellbeing by encouraging behaviour change.
She has previously worked with chronically ill populations, using technology to support and encourage effective self-management.
