Overview
I am a post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) based at the Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre.
My research background is in placental dysfunction, specifically in pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction. My PhD focused on relating maternal circulating PlGF concentration with aspects of placental function. A key paper from my PhD used a mutli-'omic approach to investigate potential subtypes of placental dysfunction in pregnancies with a low PlGF centile (Vincent et al., 2025).
My previous PDRA position worked within the NERC funded RESPIRE project, investigating the impact of maternal ambient indoor and outdoor pollution exposure on pregnancy outcomes. This work involves the ongoing RESPIRE-I cohort study, as well as the use of trophoblast organoids to test the impact of pollutants upon placental development.
I am now currently working on a MRC funded project investigating the endometrial origins of preeclampsia using organoid systems.
Social responsibility
I have been involved in communicating research to GSCE and A-level students as well as the public as a part of 'Physiology Friday', ‘Manchester Community Festival’, ‘British Science Week’, ‘In2Stem’ and as a Manchester Access Programme tutor to encourage students into further education.
