Personal profile

Biography

Though originally from Denmark, I spent most of my childhood in Belgium. I completed a Master’s in chemistry at KULeuven in Belgium, graduating magna cum laude in July 2018. After completing a company placement at Kaneka, looking into radical initiation systems, I joined the Howdle group at the University of Nottingham via an Erasmus exchange, looking into the kinetics of MMA dispersion polymerisation in scCO2. I remained with the Howdle group for a PhD, looking into the synthesis of core-shell polymer particles in scCO2 via dispersion polymerisations.

As of October 2022, I’ve joined Prof Mike Shaver in the collaborative ‘One Bin to Rule Them All’ project where we aim to unify chemistry, economy, and social science, to identify and create value in plastic packaging waste streams and simplify recycling for consumers.

My main goal is to develop a ‘Plastics Hierarchy of Fates’ tool that summarises technical information in a more accessible manner and encourages progress in plastics recycling. The idea is to set out the merits and perils of potential decisions in plastics waste processing and recycling, with a forward-looking perspective on maximising circularity.
