Lauren is a PhD researcher at the University of Manchester, exploring loneliness and developing interventions to improve mental health and well-being in children and adolescents. As part of her PhD, she is involved in the Passport to Success trial, a social-emotional learning (SEL) intervention. Her research interests also include school-based interventions, trial methodology, and qualitative research and meta-analysis, which she is actively exploring through her PhD.

Lauren's background includes experience in research trial coordination and support. She began her career as a Research Assistant on the Born in Bradford project, contributing to a feasibility randomised controlled trial (RCT) of a language intervention for 2-year-olds. She then worked at the York Trials Unit (YTU) as a Trial Support Officer and later as a Research Fellow, participating in various education and mental health trials, including BASIL (an urgent public health study as part of COVID), MODS, and ComBAT.

Driven by a passion for enhancing young people’s mental health, Lauren’s work focuses on developing evidence-based approaches to support the mental health and well-being of young people.
