Overview

Dr Lei Zeng is a lecturer and a year manager in Fashion Business and Technology working in the field of textile technology. She obtained her PhD at the University of Manchester in the area of textile based composites material in 2020. Before joining the department, she worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in a collaborative research group to develop a novel Jacquard textile colour system.  Her research interests span textile technologies from sustainable textile materials, smart textiles to functional fabrics and clothing.

She is passionate about the value of integrating doctoral research into teaching, and she was awarded the FHEA in 2019. She teaches a number of units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the Department of Materials relating to colouration, textile testing, and sustainability.
