Personal profile

Biography

I am a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Manchester. I received my MSc degree in biophysics of Light Harvesting Complexes of higher green plants from the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska (Lublin, Poland). After that, I was drafted to the army to finish the compulsory training for army officers. In May 2002, I joined the Photonics Group in the Department of Physics at the University of Sheffield to start my PhD studies under supervision of Dr Martin Grell. In April 2005, I obtained my PhD degree working on the development of alternative dielectrics for low-voltage organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) (e.g. high-k/low-k dielectric systems, self-assembled monolayers, ferroelectric-like polymeric insulators and organic/inorganic nanocomposites). In May 2005, I joined the M&N Group in the School of EEE, the University of Manchester, as a Research Associate to study alternative device concepts for high switching speed planar organic rectifiers and transistors. In March 2007, I was awarded RCUK Fellowship "Technology at the extreme" to be held in the same school. After successful completion of my fellowship, in March 2012 I was promoted to lecturer.

Research interests

My research interests are in the physics and engineering of organic/inorganic/hybrid electronic materials and devices.

Particularly, I am interested in:

  • introduction of alternative materials to electronic devices;
  • novel fabrication techniques for semiconductor devices and integrated circuits;
  • characterisation, evaluation and optimisation of new electronic materials.
