Personal profile

Research interests

Lisa Risbec is an Imaging Coordinator and former Project Photographer, working within the Imaging Team to support the digitisation and visual documentation of archival collections. Her interests focus on the material qualities of archival objects and how they are captured, interpreted, and preserved through imaging technologies. She is particularly interested in how the digitisation process can reveal or obscure the emotional and tactile dimensions of archival materials, and how visual documentation intersects with questions of memory, care, and access.

Other research

Alongside her Imaging work, Lisa is a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker. Her artistic research explores the emotional and symbolic potential of objects and materials, with a focus on archives, memory, and the body. She creates immersive installations using found, crafted, and collected materials, often incorporating sound, text, and moving image, to tell fragmented, emotionally resonant stories.

Lisa welcomes interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers working in affect theory, material culture, archival practices, and embodied methodologies.
