Professor Lloyd C. Harris is a Professor of Marketing at Manchester Business School. Previously, he was Head of Marketing and Professor of Marketing at Birmingham Business School, Warwick Business School and prior to that the Sir Julian Hodge Chair in Strategic Marketing at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. He holds a Ph.D. from Cardiff University and a D.Sc. from Warwick University. He holds a First Class BSc. from Cardiff University. His undergraduate studies were supported by the Willis-Faber and Barclays scholarships while his doctoral studies were supported by scholarship awards from both Cardiff Business School and the E.S.R.C..
The contribution of his papers has been recognized in a range of different ways. In a recent study (Ioannidis et al.2020) (PLOS Biology) in a study of 100,000 top scientists, his output was rated as the 34th highest cited research in the global field of marketing (with citations over 20,000). His current H index is 73 and his i10 index is 128. Recent awards in marketing include Best Services Marketing Paper by the AMA, Best Paper Award for Journal of Services Marketing and Outstanding Paper Award for Journal of Services Marketing. Studies into H.R.M. and culture issues have been acknowledged as important contributions, evidenced in heavy citation and downloading. Previously he was awarded the Warwick Business School Research Excellence Award for outstanding research output.
Research results have been disseminated via a range of marketing, strategy, H.R.M. and general management journals. He has published widely in these fields and has published over 200 pieces. Marketing-related papers have been published (or are forthcoming) in the Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, Journal of Market-Focused Management, Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management and the European Journal of Marketing. Strategy or management-related papers have been published in the Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, British Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Change Management, Services Industries Journal and Long Range Planning while H.R.M.-related articles have been published in Human Resources, Human Resource Management, British Journal of Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Organization Studies and the Journal of Management Studies.
Professor Harris serves on the editorial and advisory boards of several academic and practitioner-focused journals and is an active member of the American Marketing Association, the A.M.A. ServSig, RACRS, the Academy of Marketing Science, the (British) Academy of Marketing and E.M.A.C.. His teaching achieves consistently high teaching evaluations for teaching effectiveness, organization and interest stimulation (top 3%). His teaching of the Distance Learning MBA, Executive MBA and undergraduate modules have been recognised via awards for Outstanding Teaching for the last five years of teaching. He has engaged in several major consulting projects in both public and private sectors, and led training courses for business executives on strategic marketing, marketing management and human resource management.
