Overview

Luca Soattin is BHF research associate and electrophysiologist with interest in translational research for atrial fibrillation and disorders of the cardiac conduction system.

Biography

Born in 22.07.1986 in Albenga, a splendid medieval town of the Italian Riviera, Luca grew up in the town nearby: Alassio, seaside loved by tourists for its sea.

In addition to classical guitar studies and musical aesthetics at the Conservatory "Niccolò Paganini" of Genoa (IT) (MMus, 2008), Luca studied Biotechnology (BSc, 2008) and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (MSc, 2011) at the University of Genoa (IT) with a dissertation in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis with Prof. Luca Banfi (DCCI, IT).

Biotechnologist in R&D at Archimede Ricerche s.r.l. of Camporosso (IT).

Research Assistant at the Institute of Biophysics of the National Research Council (CNR) of Genoa (IT)

2016-2019
Marie Skłodowska Curie PhD Fellow at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen (DK). He worked at Cardiac Physiology Laboratory led by Prof. Thomas Jespersen on the AFib TraiNet European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program https://afib.ku.dk/
Visiting Marie Curie PhD Fellow at the Institute for Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology, University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (DE) in the electrophysiology lab led by Dr. Torsten Christ.

From November 2019
BHS Post Doctoral Research Associate at the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, University of Manchester (UK) in the lab led by Dr. Gwilym Matthew Morris and Dr. Alicia D'Souza.
