Personal profile

Overview

I am currently in the second year of the British Heart Foundation 4-year PhD programme. My PhD project is based on examining the role of human neutrophil peptides in exacerbating ischaemic stroke.

Using various in vitro techniques, an in vivo mouse model of occlusive thrombosis causing ischaemic stroke, and examination of ischaemic stroke patient samples, I will investigate the role of human neutrophil peptides on thrombo-inflammatory pathways.

Biography

During the first year (MRes) of the BHF 4-year PhD programme, three mini-project rotations were conducted in different cardiovascular research fields using different sets of techniques, before deciding to pursue research in ischaemic stroke and developing a PhD project proposal.
