Biography

Luis Eduardo holds a PhD in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester and has recently finished a post-doc position at the Home-Migration Nexus Project, University of Trento. His PhD thesis examines the intersections between armed conflict, forced migration and home, with a particular empirical focus on internally displaced people in Colombia. For the last four years, Luis Eduardo conducted ethnographic research with transnational Ecuadorian and Peruvian migrants in Spain and the UK and co-edited a volume which looks at the home-making practices of transnational migrants and refugees. Luis Eduardo has teaching experience in the University of Manchester, where he has recently convened and taught a Master Course on Migration and Development and where he has co-convened, lectured, and supervised master students.

Research interests

February 2018 – June 2021 HOMInG Project, The University of Trento

Ethnographic research on home and home-making with transnational Ecuadorian and Peruvian migrants in Spain and England and their significant others back in Ecuador and Peru.

Analysis of the temporal and spatial interplay between conflict, displacement and home with a particular empirical focus on internally displaced people in Colombia. PhD research project.
