Personal profile
Overview
Mahda is a PhD researcher at the University of Manchester, investigating current water demand challenges in England with a focus on high-use households in collaboration with Northumbrian Water. Her research adopts an experimental action-research approach, grounded in social practice theory, to understand excessive household water consumption and co-develop targeted interventions. These interventions are being trialled during her PhD to develop novel strategies for managing water demand. She is supervised by Dr. Claire Hoolohan and Professor Alison Browne.
Before starting her PhD, Mahda worked as a research consultant at an employee-owned social impact consultancy, specialising in public engagement, consultation, research, and evaluation across key sectors such as sustainability, future energy, and infrastructure. She also has professional experience in corporate social responsibility, community development, and programme coordination.
Mahda holds a BA (Hons) in International Development and an MSc in Environment and Sustainability. She is a member of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change and the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformation (CAST).
