Biography

Dr. Marcia Borba is a Senior Lecturer in Dental Biomaterials and the Research Director for the Division of Dentistry, School of Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Borba conducted her undergraduate studies in Dentistry at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF, Brazil) from 2001 to 2006. She obtained her Ph.D. in Dentistry, area of Dental Materials, from the University of São Paulo in 2010. During her Ph.D. Program, she attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC, USA) for a research internship.

She served as an Associate Professor in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs of the Dental School at University of Passo Fundo (UPF, Brazil) from 2010 to 2023. She has mentored Master and Ph.D. students. She served as Graduate Program Coordinator of the Dental School (UPF) from 2013 to 2016 and Research Coordinator of the Dental School (UPF) from 2017 to 2018.

Dr. Borba served as a research scholar at the New York University College of Dentistry (NYU, USA) from 2017 to 2018. She completed her endodontic training at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil) in 2014.

Her main research interests lie in dental restorative materials, implants, prosthodontics, and digital dentistry.

Her expertise includes biomechanics, fatigue fracture, wear, and failure analysis
