Overview
This project aims to analyse the relationship between peasant farmers, market-driven rural development and food security in the context of rural neoliberalisation in the Peruvian Andes. While agrarian scholarship has focused primarily on agricultural and labour dynamics, cuisine is foregrounded in this project to explore how the desires and constraints that are manifest in cooking and eating practices influence peasant farmers' production and reproduction strategies.
