Overview

My office is room 110d on the first floor of the Zochonis Building.

Division of Psychology and Mental Health

My core activities are lecturing, advising and course development across a range of areas of the BSc programme in Psychology.

My background and specialism is in social psychology, though my work in teaching, learning and assessment has a broad reach across the undergraduate degree. I chair our BSc Psychology Teaching Board and co-ordinate the allocation of teaching work in the Division of Psychology and Mental Health. Previously, I oversaw the BSc Psychology with International Study degree route for a number of years from its launch and was responsible for Postgraduate Teaching Assistant training and development in Psychology.

My Higher Education research has been funded by the University's Centre for Higher Education Research, Innovation and Learning (CHERIL), the Manchester-Melbourne collaborative fund, and has also been supported by an SPS Education Innovation and Evaluation grant in the School.

Academic advisees should feel free to contact me in the first instance to discuss any academic matters or difficulties. A meeting can always easily be arranged.

Teaching

My undergraduate teaching is principally in social psychology, but spans Psychology as a discipline. For example, I have contributed to the courses PSYC10100 Research Methods and StatisticsPSYC11312 Sensation and Perception, PSYC10410 Psychology in Action, PSYC10711 Introduction to Social Psychology and PSYC21702 Topics and Issues in Social Psychology in recent years, among others.

In the Third Year unit Psychology of Politics, Identity, and Society (taught with Rachel Ashworth and Caitlin Monaghan), we draw upon concepts from politics and neuroscience to interpret a constantly shifting political, social and technological landscape. We examine evidence from psychological research to look deeper at our ever-changing social world.
