Overview

My current research focus is on the lived experiences and embodied harms reported by women who have been subject to so-called ''deepfake pornography'', or what this thesis terms as ''Non-consensual Synthetic Intimate Material''.

Language matters when social harms emerge and much like its counterpart ''revenge porn'', we risk minimising the harms of this technologically facilitated sexual violence through media monikers and journalistic coinages.

I hope to explore women's lived experiences through both 1-1 interviews and social media research. In so doing, capturing the experiences, harms, impacts and coping strategies women employ may better our knowledge on the nature of this abuse and contribute to strengthening our responses to women impacted by this abuse.
