Biography

Mercedes Bleda is a Senior Lecturer in Innovation and Strategy at AMBS. She has a first degree in economics (University of Murcia, Spain), and a PhD in Innovation Studies from the University of Manchester. Before completing her PhD in the UK, Mercedes worked in the department of quantitative economics at the University of Murcia in Spain as a lecturer in mathematical economics, and as a researcher in the area of complex dynamical systems. Afterwards, she joined the Centre for Research on Organisations, Management and Technical Change (CROMTEC) and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the university of Manchester. Mercedes is currently a member of the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) doing research on a variety of topics with a focus on sustainable innovation and innovation policy issues.  

Research interests

Mercedes’ research focuses on the role of cognition in decision making within organizations, particularly in relation to corporate climate change adaptation as well as innovation policy decisions in public organisations. She has been a researcher in several projects in these areas for the ERSC and the EPSRC, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, the European Commission, the OCDE, and other institutions in the UK.
