Biography

 

Mercedes Bleda is Professor of Strategy and Innovation at Alliance Manchester Business School. She holds a first degree in Economics from the University of Murcia (Spain) and a PhD in Innovation Studies from the University of Manchester. Prior to completing her PhD in the UK, Mercedes served as a lecturer in mathematical economics and a researcher in complex dynamical systems in the Department of Quantitative Economics at the University of Murcia.

Following her doctoral studies, she joined the Centre for Research on Organisations, Management and Technical Change (CROMTEC) and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of Manchester. Currently, Mercedes is a member of the Innovation, Strategy and Sustainability (ISS) research group and the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) working on research projects related to strategic decision-making in relation to climate change adaptation, sustainable innovation and innovation policy.

 

Research interests

Mercedes Bleda’s research centres on organizational decision-making, with a focus on corporate climate change adaptation and innovation policy decisions by public organizations. She has contributed to numerous research projects in these areas funded by the European Commission, the OECD, ESRC, EPSRC, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, and other leading institutions in the UK.
