Personal profile

Biography

After completing my PhD with a full scholarship in Multimedia Language Learning, I started to teach Chinese at Contemporary Chinese Studies, the University of Nottingham, and later as a senior language tutor at the University of Manchester. I have been an editor on the Committee of British Chinese Language Teaching, and on the review board of International Journal of Computer-assisted Language Learning and Teaching. Prior to studying and working in the UK, I was a full professor of Applied Linguistics at Harbin Institute of Technology, and worked as a guest professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University in China in the field of educational technology-assisted language learning.

Research interests

My research interests include e-learning, interactive learning and cooperative learning. I have been reviewing papers on how educational technology is integrated with language teaching to extend the four-wall classroom to the real life for language practice, and also on intercultural communication in the target languages.
