Miriam Tenquist is currently doing her PhD in the Department of Sociology at the University of Manchester, UK. Miriam is affiliated with the Manchester Urban Ageing Research Group (MUARG) and the Manchester Institue for Collaborative Research in Ageing (MICRA).
Her research focuses on the Age-Friendly Movement in the UK. Studying barriers and facilitators for sustainable changes to ethnic minority ageing in an urban environment. Her previous research has centred on the lived expereince of older marginalised groups, utilising phenomenological research methods.

Miriam completed a BSc in Sociology at the University of Manchester in 2018, for which she was awarded a first. Following this she completed an MSc in Sociological Research at the University of Manchester in 2019, achieving a distinction.
In March 2019, Miriam was awarded Masters and PhD funding by the Economic and Socila Research Council, to study at the University of Manchester. Miriam began her PhD in Septmber 2021. Her research will look at evaluting the WHO Age-Friendly Policy and it's impact on Social Quality of older ethnic minority communities.
