Personal profile
Overview
Mohamad Ichsana Nur obtained a bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Public Administration from UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung (2015) and a Master’s in Administration Science concentrating on Administration and Public Policy from Universitas Indonesia (Rector’s Honours List). At the moment, He has been taking a Doctoral Programme in Development Policy and Management at Global Development Institute, the University of Manchester.
Ichsana is also affiliated with a research group named Politics, Governance, and Management specifically in the sub-unit of Development and Management. His research centers on the interconnection between politics and public administration, particularly how politics can uphold the implementation of public sector innovation in Indonesia’s Local Government. The false assumption that the development tends to fail due to politics must be criticized properly since politics indeed matters within and crosswise areas of development. If administration is regarded as an engine of development, then politics is believed as a generator of that administration. So, in terms of purposeful contribution to the field, this research is also designed to help political leaders put its political functions into substantive and meaningful actions in energizing innovation in public sector.
In his home country, Indonesia, Ichsana works as a lecturer at the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. Besides, He has been assigned to serve as a Secretary of Pejabat Pengelola Informasi dan Dokumentasi (PPID) UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. During his career, He succeeded in gaining research grants derived from Universitas Indonesia named PITTA in 2018 and Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia called Litapdimas in 2020 and 2021. In addition, He was involved in some projects of Indonesian’s local governments concerning about civil service development in 2021 and 2022. These projects were undertaken due to a joint partnership between his Department and those local governments. Moreover, He took part in creating academic draft for Legislative Council in a City of West Java, Indonesia in 2020. Furthermore, He has joined and engaged in a professional association called Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA). It is his intention to join the ranks of scholars and professionals in the public administration areas who are expected to come up with constructive and effective solutions to the actual issues in Indonesia and beyond.
