Dr. Umar is an Innovator and Scientist with experience of Projects and Team Management, Labs Management, and Projects Delivery. He have worked at various research institutes, including Henry Royce Institute, Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, and National Textile Research Centre. He is also an experienced Entrepreneur with key skills of operations and financial management. Throughout his career, he have developed his analytical, strategic and management skills that allow him to be effective in a variety of professional roles. He have more than 10 years of research experience in hydrogels, fibre composites, 2D materials especially Graphene and MoS2, textile related technologies and materials characterization techniques including SEM, XRD, FTIR, DMA, X-Ray CT, AFM, Rheology, Mastersizer and Raman. He also have experience in developing latest commercial products i.e. sustainable substrates, composites, membranes and wound dressings. His research interests also include camouflage composites, 3D printing of textile materials, scaffolds for cell culture and tissue engineering.
