Biography
Murray Rosen is a barrister, deputy judge and arbitrator in culture, media and sports disputes. His first degree was in philosophy and law at the University of Cambridge. He was recently awarded an MA in history of art (with distinction) at the Courtauld Institute. His dissertation concerned Jackson Pollock's so-called 'Psychoanalytic' drawings (1938-1942) and the controversy when the drawings and his/their Jungian analysis were made public in 1970 after his death.
Overview
Murray Rosen's PhD research project is based on an investigation and critical study of the New York magazine VVV (1942-44). The provisional title of his thesis is 'Play, Myth and Identity in Surrealism during WWII'. Its main themes will encompass the psychology of migration, automatism, the occult and games, and androgynous and other hybrid imagery.
