Biography

With a background in environmental geography and development studies, I am completing my PhD studies at the University of Manchester in the Global Development Institute, funded by UKRI's Economic and Social Research Council. My PhD research is supervised by Dr Charis Enns and Dr Johan Oldekop.

I recently completed an MSc in Research Methods with International Development in the Global Development Institute as part of my ESRC 1+3 Studentship, and was awarded the Postgraduate Platt Prize. I also hold an MSc in Environmental Change and International Development from the University of Sheffield, and a BSc(Hons) in Geography from the University of Manchester.

Currently, I work as a Research Assistant on the Just Earth Observation for Conservation project and as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester.

Research interests

My research interests include conservation social science, political ecology, and issues relating to environment and development more broadly. My PhD research is exploring how different conservation approaches can incorporate biocultural diversity, and how biocultural approaches to conservation can help to achieve global environmental objectives. I am exploring these questions through a case study of northern Kenya's conservation landscape and the Inclusive Conservation Initiative. I am also an active member of the Resources, Environment and Development research group in GDI.

Teaching

Through my work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I have taught on the following Masters modules:

  • Development Research
  • Climate, Environment and Development (formerly Climate Change, Disasters and Responses)
  • Development Fieldwork, including the student field course in Rwanda
