Overview

Dr Neil Patel is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Oral Surgeon in the Division of Dentistry at the University of Manchester. He qualified with Honours in Dentistry from the University of Manchester in 2007 and went on to complete specialist and higher surgical training in Oral Surgery at Manchester Dental Hospital. During this time, he also obtained a Master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and held a prestigious National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Academic Clinical Fellowship.

Dr Patel plays a key strategic role in international dental education and currently serves as Lead for Internationalisation within the Division. In this capacity, he oversees global partnerships that foster collaboration in research, teaching and learning, social responsibility, and student experience. He leads two Joint Degree programmes in collaboration with Egyptian institutions: the Mansoura-Manchester Dental Programme and the Manchester-Alexandria BDS Joint Degree.

His clinical and academic interests span oral and maxillofacial surgery, dental implantology, evidence-based practice, and dental education. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and presented internationally on topics related to these fields.

As an Honorary Consultant, Dr Patel is actively involved in training both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His clinical practice is focused on implant dentistry, including complex treatments such as sinus lift surgery, bone and soft tissue grafting, and advanced dental implant placement. He also manages a wide range of oral surgical procedures including surgical extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, surgical endodontics (apicectomy), and orthodontic exposures.
