Nik Aloesnisa, a PhD student in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, is passionate about researching the intricate role of phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors in alleviating cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure. Her research focuses on deciphering the underlying mechanisms via the PI3K and MAPK signalling pathways to gain important insights in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
Nik Aloesnisa is a medical lecturer (on study leave) at the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Health Campus, Malaysia, and currently a sponsored student under the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and USM.
After obtaining her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from USM in 2005, she dedicated herself to serving with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia, across multiple hospitals and clinics in Kelantan and Kedah, Malaysia. In 2009, she transitioned to academia, joining USM as a trainee lecturer. Demonstrating her commitment to advancing her expertise, she completed her postgraduate studies, earning a Master's degree in Medical Sciences of Physiology in 2012. Returning to USM as a medical lecturer, she continued her academic pursuits while inspiring students with her passion for physiology. Presently, she is on leave from her duties at USM to pursue PhD studies at the University of Manchester, UK, underscoring her dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
