Overview

Dr. Nuruzzaman joined the University of Manchester in September 2020 as a lecturer/assistant professor in the Comparative and International Business research group. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from Rutgers University, USA, and a Master of Science in Economics from Tilburg University, Netherlands. His primary research interest lies in global strategy, with additional focus on (ir)responsible business practices and their impact on the global strategy and performance of multinational firms.

Dr. Nuruzzaman has published his work in prestigious journals, including the Global Strategy Journal, Journal of International Business Policy, International Business Review, and Journal of International Management. His research has garnered international recognition, notably receiving the 2023 AOM IM Division - Georgetown Best Paper Award for International Business and Policy, the 2022 Temple/AIB Best Paper Award, and inclusion in the 2021 Wiley's Global Strategy Journal Top Cited Articles.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Nuruzzaman served as an officer in the Economic Affairs Department of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat. In this role, he was part of a team that managed the ASEAN Free Trade Area and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand free trade negotiations.
