Accepting PhD Students
I am a Lecturer at the University of Manchester, specialising in reactor physics with a focus on Gen-IV technologies, with a particular interest in High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGRs) and Advanced Technology Fuels. I have led and contributed to multiple UK-funded projects, including EPSRC/US-DoE collaborations and industrial partnerships with UKNNL, Rolls-Royce, Amentum, and URENCO. My research covers core design, criticality safety, high uranium density fuels, and advanced fuel modelling for SMRs and Gen-IV reactors and code coupling.
I have teachning experience leading MSc/MEng and BEng courses in Reactor Physics, as well as extensive experience in student supervision and software training.
My work has contributed to the development of reactor technologies such as the U-Battery, USNC’s Micro Modular Reactor (MMR); both developed as part of the UK's AMR program.
