Industrial Economics
Prior to joining the Manchester Business School, Paul Simpson held positions at the University of Stirling and UMIST. He currently teaches modules on Mergers and Acquisitions for both the MSc in Accounting and Finance and MBA courses.
Paul's general area of research is Industrial Economics but in particular much of his recent work has been devoted to Mergers and Acquisitions. Specific topics include the determinants of cross border mergers, merger waves and corporate governance issues surrounding international mergers. Other research interests include the Operation of UK and EC Competition Policy and its Impact on Firms; Behaviour in Declining Industries; (In)stability of International Cartels
