Personal profile

Overview

My primary focus is digital health and I am Co-Investigator / digital health lead on digital health projects across a range of health domains. I am committed to co-design approaches and to using digital technologies to support under-served communities.

I co-direct the GM.Digital Research Unit at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust with Professor Kathryn Abel to develop, evaluate and implement evidence-based digital mental health platforms.  We run a weekly Digital Young People's Research Advisory Group to guide our work with children and young people.

I co-lead the Digital Health Software team with Matt Machin, a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, project managers, UI/UX designers and software support engineers building platforms for health rseearch.

I have a particular interest in digital Cystic Fibrosis research, and I led the digital team which developed the CFHealthHub platform for the largest ever Randomised Control Trial in Cystic Fibrosis in the UK.  The digital platform is now in use in >60% of adult CF centres in the UK. I am Vice-Chair of the CFDigiCare collaborative, a 140+ member group of clinicians, people with CF, digital health researchers, and others committed to improving care for people with CF through digital approaches.

I co-lead the Connected Health academic theme at the Centre for Health Informatics with Dr Sabine van der Veer.

I am particularly interested in using digital health solutions to reach under-served (variously defined) and I am currently working on the CaFI:Digital project to support a Culturally-adapted family intervention for African and Caribbean people diagnosed with psychosis, and their families.

I coordinate the Digital Health Reading and Research Group - weekly research group meeting, all welcome.
