Overview

Dr Arkwright is a Senior Lecturer/Consultant in Paediatric Allergy & Immunology at the University of Manchester and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in the United Kingdom.

He works as part of a multi-disciplinary team looking after children with severe atopic dermatitis, complex allergies, and immunodeficiencies. His research interests focus on translating and discovering new allergic and immune diseases. He has published over 180 peer-review original articles with collaborators from around the world. He has refereed over 500 papers for international journals and is on the editorial board of Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology In Practice. He lectures and chairs sessions at national and international conferences.

Inborn Errors of Immunity (IEI):

  • molecular and cellular basis 
  • genotype – phenotype correlations
  • development of novel treatments for PID and its complications

Atopic Diseases – particularly atopic dermatitis:

  • genetic and environmental factors
  • role of Staphylococcus aureus in triggering skin inflammation
  • use of biologics in children with severe atopic dermatitis
  • psychological impact on the family
