Overview

Dr Plamen Dinev is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Manchester, specialising in intellectual property and technology.

Plamen's research has been published in journals including Intellectual Property Quarterly, Law Quarterly Review, and European Intellectual Property Review. He received the Modern Law Review Scholarship for 2019, which allowed him to carry out fieldwork on 3D printing in New York, and his monograph in this area was published by Hart in 2025. His recent work on AI has been cited in reports published by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property, European Parliament, and in an amicus brief submitted to the US Supreme Court.

Plamen is the course director for Intellectual Property in the Digital Ecosystems. He is also a visiting lecturer on the Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property at the University of Strasbourg.
