Qualifications

MBChB, MRCGP, MSc (Medical Education), DFFP, DRCOG.

Teaching

I have always had an interest in learning and as a student I set up a peer-led sexual health teaching programme linking student doctors with local schools. This programme was rolled out across UK medical schools and is still running. This experience led me to value the benefits of learning whilst delivering care and expertise for the local community.  I have taught a number of clinical topics and broader areas in medical education such as feedback, raising concerns, health inequalities, PBL, active learning, learing in the community, clinical communication.

Research interests

I am interested in students learning experiences in community settings, including issues of identity formation and the potential benefits of witnessing patients stories. For my MSc dissertation I used the students own iPads to collect narrative data during a placement. I am currently working with Erica Sullivan on ways to improve the experience of raising concerns for students and teachers on clinical work placements.
