Biography
A research consultant, Rana Khalaf is the author of several key publications that seek to bridge the gap between the worlds of activism, academia and policy-making. Her work brings unique access to and expertise on women, local governance, and civil society dynamics in conflict-torn states, with a specific focus on Syria.
With over 12 years of professional experience, she has evaluated projects and provided evidence-based research, consultancy and policy advice to a wide range of stakeholders. These include the European Commission, UN-ESCWA, the Syrian Female Journalist Network, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, and the League of Arab States.
Currently, Rana is a PhD candidate with Manchester University’s Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute, a non-resident fellow with the University of St. Andrews’ Centre for Syrian Studies and an academy associate with Chatham House.
