Working at the boundary between physical chemistry and physical pharmacy, I have expertise in solving complex interactions mechanisms at fluid interfaces through the application of optical and neutron reflectometry. The dynamic and non-equilibrium interfacial behavior of systems in pharmaceutical and soft matter systems is of particular interest. The new information advances the understanding of systems spanning different structurally-related series of drugs and drug carriers, to nanoparticles, proteins, peptides and DNA, as well as synthetic polymer/surfactant mixtures. The scientific problems of interest to me are related to healthcare as well as fundamental interest and practical applications in colloid and interface science. I am also actively involved in undergraduate teaching, am Director of the MSc Pharmaceutical Industry Advanced Training programme, currently co-supervise 2 Postdocs and 5 PhD students, and have published more than 100 peer review articles. Publications since the start of 2020 include eight outputs in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (impact factor, IF 8.1) as well as three in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces (IF 9.3) and one each in Chemical Science (IF 9.8), Nanoscale Horizons (IF 11.0) and Advances in Colloid and Interface Science (IF 13.0).
