Rosy strongly believes that research should not exist in isolation, and is proud to contribute to the University's social responsibility goals by translating her research into positive changes in the wider community. This is evident with her project focused on sexism towards women in football communities on Tiktok (2023) and its subsequent discussions in the media (e.g. BBC news). Her presentation about how to design retail websites to be more age-inclusive for the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) was watched by 100 people from local government, NHS, private sector & the general public. Her commitment to public engagement is also exemplified by her fashion & technology talk & Q&A (2021) in collaboration with ENGAGE (Salford University) which was streamed on social media with 157 live viewers. She has also demonstrated involvement in knowledge creation & transfer with industry. After reading her book Fashion Buying & Merchandising: The Fashion Buyer in a Digital Society (Routlege, 2020) she was invited to be a consultant for a TV production company (The Forge) in 2023, thereby enhancing public understanding of fashion buying. Her insights have also been sought as a retail expert by reputable media e.g. New Statesman (2023), for whom she was interviewed to help educate people on fashion sustainability & greenwashing.
