Personal profile

Overview

My work within the university currently involves leading a workpackage on the Neighbourhoods and Dementia Study. This workpackage provides a staff well-being service. I also work clinically within Watergrove Memory Assessment Service, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Research interests

November 2009 - present. Members of the Dementia and Ageing Research Theme (DART) comprise the Manchester arm of a randomised controlled trial exploring the effectiveness of couple-based reminiscence groups for people with dementia and relatives.

September 2010 - August 2011. Members of DART are undertaking a project around the care of people with dementia in general hospital settings. This is being undertaken within Royal Bolton Hospital.

September 2011 - March 2012 - Members of DART are undertaking 'phase two' of the above project. Following on from the development of training materials within the first phase of the project, the training will be undertaken across wider areas of Greater Manchester West to include Salford and Trafford.

November 2010 - November 2011 - Members of DART are undertaking a systematic review of the literature and an exploratory project investigating the experiences of relatives of people with dementia and their use of counselling and psychotherapy.
