Overview

Saied is a Research Fellow and Statistician at the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Safety in Mental Health (NCISH) - involved in the core activities of a UK-wide research programme of suicide prevention in mental health services. Saied has worked at the Centre for Mental Health and Safety since 2012.

 

His research interests include:

- mental health epidemiology

- statistical programming and data management

- suicide and homicide prevention in people with mental illness. 

 

His most recent projects involve:

- co-leading a UK-wide study examining suicide by former personnel of the UK Armed Forces

- examining avoidable healthcare-associated harm for prisoners in England.  

 

He previously worked as a Statistician at the European Action on Anticoagulation in the University of Manchester, obtaining a PhD investigating the safe and effective administration of warfarin in treating patients with various blood disorders.

Saied is a lecturer at the University on the 'Research Methods' modules for the MSc in Forensic Psychology and Mental Health
