Personal profile

Dr. Samira Malekmohammadi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Materials, Faculty of Science and Engineering. She leads an innovative project funded by EPSRC, focused on developing novel stretchable and stiff injectable hydrogels for biomedical applications.
Samira's research journey also includes her significant contribution as a Researcher at the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research and the Department of Chemistry at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland. Her projects, generously funded by the Swiss government, concentrate on designing and synthesizing nanocarriers based on hydrogels, dendritic silica nanoparticles, etc. These nanocarriers respond to the tumor microenvironment and potentially could be used for cancer treatment through advanced technologies such as Chemo-sonodynamic and Chemo-photothermal therapies.
She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry with an excellent degree and ranked first in the department from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. So far, she has published her research results in eight prestigious Q1 international journals and demonstrated effective communication of complex findings through keynote speeches at top conferences. Currently, she is Guest Editor of four prestigious international journals, has refined her editorial skills and stayed updated on Organic and Medicinal Chemistry, Tissue Engineering, and Biomaterial Developments.
Beyond her research activities, Samira is passionately dedicated to educating and mentoring master's and Ph.D. students. Her collaborative initiatives have led to partnerships with professionals from diverse disciplines across the globe including the USA, Spain, Australia, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland, which further enriches the interdisciplinary dimensions of her work.
