Personal profile
Overview
Qualitative Research Fellow
As a qualitative methodologist I am interested in working with a variety of qualitative methods including interviewing, ethnographic and longitudinal methods. I have experience of working on a range of sensitive research topics.
Topics I have researched into include Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim single motherhood, Long Covid experiences amongst ethnic minority and socioeconomically deprived people and exploring interpreting service improvements in the area of maternity care.
I have also worked on a qualitative process evaluation for the BioDriveAFS trial, which included interviewing Leukemia patients and healthcare staff.
Overall, my research interests are at the intersection of ethnicity, family and health studies. I am particularly interested in exploring ethnic minority women’s experiences in relation to health inequalities, intersectionality and family studies.
Other research activities include co-convening the Qualitative Long Covid Network and I am a Guest Editor for the Health Expectations Journal (Wiley) Long Covid special issue. I am also a regular attendee at the British Sociological Association Medical Society Annual Conference.
I am also a qualitative co-applicant for the OPTIM-I study, just under £1m funded grant from the NIHR.
I previously worked as a qualitative research fellow at The University of York, Health Sciences. I have given guest lectures at The University of Sheffield (topics including Intersectionality and Islamophobia, Muslims and Religion in the module Understanding ‘race’ and migration) and The University of York (Qualitative Process Evaluations), and am always looking for guest lecturing opportunities.
