Sarah is a researcher and practitioner specialising in applied and community theatre and performance practice. Her research examines the social and community value of performance training, with particular interest in the voice.
Sarah obtained her PhD from the University of Leeds in 2018 and since then has worked at the University of Leeds and the University of Bolton, teaching across theatre and performance, media and communication and applied and community arts. Trained as an applied theatre practice, her work explores performance training as cultural practice, investigating its use in community contexts.
She is also a theatre practitioner based in the north west of England. She is co-director of Salford Community Theatre, an organisation that creates promenade community plays focusing on Salford's industrial past.
