Dr,
Dr. Aliasghari completed her bachelor in chemistry and master’s degree in Material science and engineering at Sharif University of Technology. She received her PhD in corrosion and protection (material science) from the University of Manchester in (2014) followed by a 2 years adjunct lecturer at Sharif university. She also has a number of years industrial experience. Dr. Aliasghari joined UKRI-Daresbury lab when she has been awarded the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie research fellow (2017-2019). Royal Society of Engineering endorsed her as Global Talent in 2020. Dr. Aliasghari has been a member of scientific team in Iranian light source facility (ILSF-IPM) in 2020. She started her research associate position under EPSRC award in the University of Manchester (UoM) 2021. Sepideh has broad research interests in surface treatment and coating on light metals in porous morphology which is favorable for many engineering application. The main goal of her PhD research was to develop new protection treatments for improving long-term performance in terms of mechanical, tribological and corrosion initiation. She also works on characterization techniques to understand in detail the mechanism of crack propagation in relation to the substrate microstructure and coating adhesion on light alloys.
