Overview

Silke Conen is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education and has been at the Division of Medical Education since 2018.  She is the Associate Academic Lead for Year 2 of the MBChB (Medicine) Programme, MBChB Semester 3 Module Lead, and Assessment Lead for the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Practice.

Silke is also Director of International Mobility in Education at the School of Medical Sciences and in this role she works on the development of international teaching and learning opportunities, and works with internal and external programmes to increase the quality and quantity of opportunities for global mobility of staff and students. 

Silke has a PhD in Psychopharmacology from Maastricht University (NL) and teaches a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the School of Medical Sciences. Her educational and scientific background is in psychopharmacology, neuroscience, cognition, EEG, and PET- and MR-imaging. Her post-doctoral research focused on creating a better understanding of both the healthy and diseased brain, in order to develop and improve treatments for psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia. Her current research interests evolve around the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, specifically focusing on improving learning experiences around the topic of neurology and on improving students' well-being.
