Biography
Dr Simon Bullock is a Research Fellow at the Tyndall Centre, University of Manchester. He is an interdisciplinary climate change researcher, using quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse transition pathways for the shipping sector. His research is at three levels:
- Globally, on the overarching International Maritime Organisation climate change strategy, and policies governing the speed and scale of the industry’s transition;
- Nationally, on UK policies to help ports decarbonise; and
- Locally, working with front-runner ports to help them overcome the challenges they face in electrifying their operations.
He has 30 years’ experience working on international and national climate change policy, covering issues such as environmental economics, road transport, aviation, electricity systems, planning, carbon budgets and industrial decarbonisation.
