Personal profile

Research interests

My research focusses on the chemistry and physics of aerosol in laboratories, the ambient atmosphere and inside buildings, where aerosol is the mixture of gases, vapours and particulate matter. Through laboratory work I contribute to development of the Master Chemical Mechanism for gas-phase chemistry and to reducing uncertainty around the physical properties of aerosol components. My work for the ambient atmosphere includes identification of important processes for aerosol transformation as well as testing machine learning for improved estimation of secondary organic aerosol. I have investigated the properties of airborne pollutants in homes, thereby improving our ability to evaluate the state of residential air quality and quantify its drivers. As researcher for the UK's National Centre for Atmospheric Science I contribute to National Capability by developing the CHemistry with Aerosol Microphysics in Python computational model.
